Case study
KME was asked to provide a secure system for a tactical operations centre that was to be designed into a shelter that appears very similar to a shipping container. The system had to have four 50 inch displays, 6 tactical laptops, a Server rack, customs cabling and ceiling mounting with quick detach capability, a bespoke storage system, and to top it all off the system had to be secure by design as the data coming in and out of the tactical operation centre was at Secrete level.
At KME we then went to work to design a system from the ground up with custom made LCD displays that had an interactive touch screen that allowed the user to write directly onto the screen without interacting with the PC.
We then wrote custom secure software to allow the communications in and out safely. The team worked with a case manufacturer to provide a solution with a custom heater on board to allow the unit to be warmed up ahead of hanging the equipment to the mount.
Our mechanical team designed a custom ceiling mount that allowed for simple loading and unloading of the 50 inch displays with a quick detach function.
The team also designed all of the wiring and cables in order to ensure that the solution worked effectively with all signals being passed with a low latency. This project took 16 weeks from PO placement to First article inspection and delivery. The customer was able to participate in every engineering gate from SRR to FAI in a collaborative manner.
