Land Soldier Systems

KME has the capability to design deliver and certify a full range of display solutions for Solider systems, this includes soldier worn and soldier portable technology.

We are also now providing an array of modular electronics outside of the display space that very much leans on our modular electronic approach from KME, our innovations team are bringing forward a number of soldier portable assets that include every from Friendly forces markers to weapons lights and lasers.

 Solutions based

KME approaches every soldier system based on the requirement and the use case first.  We often work closely with the end user and our customer to understand exactly how the equipment is going to be worm or carried as well as what environment the soldier is going to operate in.  We then provide advise on what additional features could also be added to help to make the equipment suitable.

Frequently requested and available technology & features

  • Display sizes, 3” to 10” fully rugged or partially rugged LCD.
  • Secure by design systems
  • Custom mounting solutions with attachment points for Molle
  • Cables and video switching
  • NVIS A and full system black out features
  • IP sealing suitable for diving
  • Additional Security for parachuting

Case Study

KME was asked to provide a system used by a JTAC / forward observer to allow the end user to call in joint fires from an array of platforms at one time using a 3 different software packages at one time.  The challenge was to design and manufacture a smart display with an I7 that is small enough and also lite enough to be worn on the soldier, but to be able to run the applications.

We started by understanding the challenges and quickly identified that we were going to disperse the heat from the processor in order to allow for full functionality in a hot environment.  The team went to work and designed a light weight solution to achieve the aim and tested it only the path.

Our team then worked closely with the end user and the trials team to implement the required additional feature, we then demonstrated an NVIS A additional feature that allowed the operator to view the screen through their Night vision device and massively reduce their signature on the battle field.

The project was a huge success and proved that KMEs team can interrogate with the customer and the end users’ teams to reach a great outcome.
